Lovren: I Wanted To Jump Into The Crowd
Dejan Lovren spoke out about how he felt when he scored his goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Lovren scored to put Liverpool 2 -1 up at Selhurst Park to make amends for gifting James McArthur an equalizing goal on 18 minutes.
Lovren was quick to recover from his mistake when he headeded home Liverpool’s second goal to put the reds back in front just 3 minutes later.
“I was angry. I was definitely angry,” said Lovren. “The lads asked me in the dressing-room, ‘What did you want to do when you scored the goal?’ I said I wanted to jump into the crowd. I didn’t know what to do, because I would say I didn’t deserve this.”
“I said to myself, ‘It’s not possible, I am working too hard to do a mistake and to lose the game’. I said I was angry and I wanted to score the goal.”
“When you have a winning team you have to have your character and to move on quickly and I think we showed that, especially in the first half after the mistakes.”
“If you want to be in the top four at the end of the season or be champions, you need to win the smaller games like today and even the next game against Watford. And then we will see against the big teams.
“But I think we have shown this year that we can play against the big teams, we are not scared. I think the biggest opponent for us is us.”
