  1. Liverpool Reject Third Bid For Sakho

According to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have rejected a third bid from Crystal Palace for Mamadou Sakho.

The bid reported to be an initial £22m up front with a further £3m in addons was submitted by Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish earlier today.

Liverpool are adamant that the player will not be sold for less than their valuation of £30m and have no intention of accepting anything less than the asking price.

Interest in Sakho is high with West Brom and Leicester also interested in the French centre back but apparently Sakho has told the club that he is only interested in a move to Crystal Palace.

If Crystal Palace are to secure the out of favour defenders signature, they are going to have to come up with an offer that includes more cash up front.

Sakho who has been out of favour at the club since his relationship with Jurgen Klopp broke down after being sent home from the clubs pre-season tour of the US last year moved to Anfield from Paris Saint Germain for £18m in 2013.

  2. Liverpool Make Bid For Thomas Lemar

Liverpool are reported to have made a club record bid of £60m rising to over £70m including add ons for Monaco’s winger, Thomas Lemar.

The 21 year old French international who is said to be in favour of the move to Anfield can play on either wing as well as in the attacking midfielder role and is adept with both feet.

James Pearce from the Liverpool Echo claims that the deal is not linked to the departure of Philippe Coutinho and that he will be staying put regardless of what players are brought in.

Lemar was been neavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer but Monaco have rejected any offers for the dynamic midfielder.

Lemar is currenlty on duty with the French national team and this is likely to be a stumbling block for any move as Didier Deschamps has said any player looking to move should have the deal done before joining up with the national team.

The 21 year old has provided 2 assists in 4 league games for Monaco so far this season following on from last season where he scored 14 goals and 17 assists in 55 appearances in all competitions

  3. Liverpool Target Says He Turned Down January Move To Anfield

FC Rostov’s Iranian attacker, Sardar Azmoun who was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool during the January transfer window has said he turned down a move to Anfield during the last window because he felt he would spend a lot of time on the bench.

Speaking to an Iranian website he said, “there were talks of Liverpool having expressed an interest in me during the past winter transfer window, however, I did not feel the time to move was right.”

“I would have ended up playing a few games and then spent a great deal of time on the bench as Liverpool were only looking to fill a void for a particular part of their season.”

“I want to move to a big club to develop as a player and therefore I will time the move with great precision. I am sure I will be playing for a top European club in the near future.”

Liverpool were rumoured to be interested in the 22 year old striker, dubbed “The Iranian Messi” and he was seen as a replacement for Sadio Mane who departed for the African Cup of Nations in January.

  4. Jamie Carragher Points Finger Over Lack Of Signings

Jamie Carragher has spoken out about Liverpool’s failure to expand the squad in the January transfer window, a period that saw Liverpool crash out of both the EFL Cup and FA Cup as well as losing to relagation battles Swansea & Hull.

Carragher believes that Liverpool lack the quality on the bench that teams around them in the race to the top four have.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said, “Liverpool don’t have the squad to match the other teams and are in a major fight for the top four. For how great everything was going a few months ago, it shows how quickly everything can just unravel.”

“A major disappointment, whether it was down to the manager or the board, was not getting any reinforcements in in January. The players are there. I am not saying panic buy.”

“At this moment, there are lots of problems, defensively and in attack, but I am talking about in terms of numbers, Liverpool needed something.”

“If you look at Liverpool’s bench, they haven’t got anything like what Manchester United have got, City have got – these are the teams they are trying to compete with.”

“The fact that they haven’t reinforced from a position of strength – where they were in the league as the best challengers for Chelsea – has meant they have fallen away.”

“Certain players have been superb all season. You can’t expect the likes of Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho to keep up their levels, they need to come out of the team, not dropped, but just taken out for a couple of weeks to freshen them up, but there isn’t the players on the bench to do that.”

“Other sides have got that quality in reserve that Liverpool haven’t.”

  5. Liverpool Linked With Three Attacking Options As January Transfer Window Opens

The January Transfer Window is well and truly open and already, Liverpool have been linked with a number of players.

There are three names who are being linked with us numerous stories and we take a look at them and what they could offer to strengthen our challenge for this year’s Premier League title.

    Raul Jimenez

Raul JimenezRaul Jimenez is a 25 year old Mexican forward who currently plies his trade at Benfica. Since joining Benfica from  Atletico Madrid in August 2015, he has scored 20 goals and provided 7 assists in 63 games.

In the 18 games he has played across all competitons this season, he has scored 8 goals and provided 2 assists.

He made his international debut for Mexico in a friendly against Denmark in January 2013 and has since made 48 appearances, scoring 9 goals.

He is currently valued at around £22m and is reported as being a target for the Summer rather than this window.

    Quincy Promes

Quincy PromesQuincy Promes, also 25, is a Dutch international winger currently playing in the Russian Premier League with Spartak Moscow.

Since joining Spartak Moscow from FC Twente in 2014, Promes, who can play in any position across the front three has scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists in 78 games in all competitions.

He has scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists in 14 league games so far this season

Promes made his international debut for The Netherlands in March 2014 in a friendly against France and has scored 2 goals  in 16 games. His record for the U21’s was much more impressive as he scored 8 goals in just 9 appearances.

The Dutch international who is reported to be valued at around £20m has been heavily linked with us recently with reports that Georginio Wijnaldum is doing his best to convince his countryman to link up with him at Liverpool.

    Emile Forsberg

Emile ForsbergEmile Forsberg is a 25 year old Swedish international winger, currently playing with RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga.

Since moving to RB Leipzig from Malmo in January 2015 for a fee of £3m, Forsberg has scored 13 goals and provided 20 assists in 64 games.

So far this season he has scored 5 goals and provided 9 assists. Used primarily as a left winger for both club and country, he has also been deployed on the right wing on occasion.

Forsberg made his international debut for Sweden in January 2014 in a friendly against Moldova and has gone on to make 24 appearances, scoring three goals and providing 2 assists along the way.

He is reported to be a target for us this window and is said to be valued at around £5m by his club.

  6. Reds Want Loan Fee For Mamadou Sakho

Reports emerging today in the The Daily Mail suggest that Liverpool have slapped a fee of £500,000 on any potential loan for out of favour Mamadou Sakho.

Sakho has been left in the doldrums and has not made a first team appearance for the reds this season. Jurgen Klopp has made no secret of the fact that Sakho does not feature in his plans and has told the French defender that he can look for another club.

West Ham and West Brom are two clubs who were interesting in taking Sakho on loan in the summer but, he refused any advances and decided to stay and fight for his place.

Liverpool would also require any club taking Sakho on loan to cover his full £80,000 per week wages which will deter most potential suitors.

Lille, AC Milan and Inter Milan are said to be among the clubs currently interested.

  7. Sakho To Be Sold In January

According to James Pearce at The Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp will sell Mamadou Sakho in the January transfer window.

The central defender who arrived from Paris Saint Germain in 2013 for a fee of £18m has spent the entirety of this season so far playing for the U23 squad after a number of disciplinary issues since Klopp’s arrival.

Sakho, who enjoys somewhat of a cult following from the Liverpool fans took to social media back in September of this year to express his feelings about not being included in the first team and incurred the wrath of Jurgen Klopp for the second time after being sent home from the Reds pre-season tour of America after a number of disciplinary infringements, including arriving late for the plane and interrupting the manager while he was being interviewed by LFC TV.

Sakho was also cleared of failing a drugs test towards the end of last season which meant he missed the League Cup and Europa League finals

The writing has been on the wall for Sakho for some time after he turned down a number of loan offers during the summer to stay and fight for his place but it is obvious now to all that this will be a futile excercise as he is not part of Klopp’s plans and has fallen behind Lucas Leiva in the pecking order for positions in the centre of defence.

Pearce is reporting that Klopp’s comments mean he is sure to be sold in January.

Klopp said, “Nothing has changed, he is not in these plans for the first team. The first team squad is here (at Melwood). You know all this.”

Sakho’s contract runs until 2020 and West Brom & Stoke are said to be interested in securing the centre back’s signature after having loan requests turned down in the summer. He has made 80 appearances for the reds since he signed in 2013, scoring three goals.

  8. Liverpool Interested In Dutch Winger Quincy Promes

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are interested in bringing Dutch winger, Quincy Promes to Anfield in January.

The 24 year old who currently plies his trade for Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League has an impressive tally of 36 goals in 74 appearances with 19 assists and has scored 5 goals in 10 games this season providing 6 assists.

He also has 16 caps for the Dutch national side scoring 2 goals and excelled for the Dutch U21’s, scoring 8 times in 9 games.

Klopp is keen to add cover for Sadio Mane who is set to depart for the African Cup of Nations in January and Danny Ings who is a long term injury absentee and Promes is seen as the ideal candidate due to his speed, skill and his eye for goal.

The Dutch international moved to Spartak Moscow from FC Twente in August 2014 for a fee of £13m and has recently just signed a new contract with Spartak worth £55k per week.

  9. Dortmund Set To Offer Pulisic New Contract

According to the Liverpool Echo, Borussia Dortmund are set to offer Christian Pulisic a new long contract to ward off interest from Liverpool.

Pulisic, who was reported to have been subject of a failed £11m Liverpool bid during the last transfer window, has three years left on his current contract.

Jurgen Klopp is known to be a huge admirer of the 18 year old USA international and is keen to bring the talented winger to Liverpool. Pulisic joined Dortmund’s Academy in January 2015 when Klopp was still manager.

The 18 year old is primarily a right winger but can play in centre midfield or as a left winger and is the type of dynamic midfielder who would fit into Klopp’s style of play due to his versatility across the midfield.

He is a regular in the Dortmund side having played 12 games in all competitions this season so far and has contributed 2 goals and 4 assists. He also has 8 senior international appearances for the USA since march of this year, scoring 3 goals in that time.

Liverpool are short on right wingers at the club and with Sadio Mane due to miss four games in January and February due to the African Cup of Nations in Gabon and the long term injury to Danny Ings, filling the void has become more urgent.

Pulisic signing a new contract doesn’t mean that Liverpool can’t bid for the player in January. We all know that new contracts mean improved terms for the player but they also ensure that clubs can insert better terms for themselves for any future transfer.

Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director. Michael Zorc has said that they have no intention of selling Pulisic and are about to offer him an improved contract.

Zorc told Sports Illustrated, “There have been some offers for him in the summer window from England and from German clubs, but we would like to have him here and develop him here.”

“We did not educate him to sell him. We have a long-running contract until 2019, but because of his development the club is ready to speak to him to prolong his contract at any time.”

  10. PSG To Offer Deal To Include Coutinho And Firmino

The silly season is well and truly upon us when we see stories like this appearing in the media and the fact that its international break at the moment, there isn’t much in the way of news so these stories are always sure to appear.

According to the Daily Express and the giant of world football that is French football website, Foot Sur 7, Paris Saint Germain’s President, Nasser Al-Kheilifa wants to offer €100m (£87.75m) for Liverpool’s dynamic duo, Philippe Coutinho & Roberto Firmino.

According to the story which appeared yesterday, Al-Kheilifa feels that the best way to attract Coutinho to Paris is to bring his close friend, Firmino with him.

The quote in the piece states that “the two midfielders are downright inseparable and do not give up an inch, which is also reflected on the field.”

£88m for Coutinho & Firmino I hear you say? Surely Coutinho is worth that much on his own?  Well according to the author, Jean-Luc D, PSG are going to sweeten the deal by including 24 year old Brazilian right winger, Lucas Moura in the deal.

Moura, who moved to PSG in January 2013 for a fee of €35m (£31m) from Sao Paulo has scored 33 goals and provided 38 assist in 186 appearances for the French club. He’s also made 35 international appearances for Brazil, scoring 4 goals.

Both Coutinho & Firmino have been in electrifying form for Liverpool this season and are sure to attract the type of rumours that are being plied at the moment.

Let’s be honest. Well are in a lot stronger position to hold onto our top talent than we have been in previous years, not only because of our league position but because we have one of the best managers in world football at the club and we are playing exciting football.

Moura, however may be worth a punt in January, if not just to prove a point to PSG.
