  1. Steven Gerrard To Return To Liverpool?

Jurgen Klopp dropped an unexpected bombshell during his pre-match press conference for the West Brom game when asked whether Steven Gerrard would be welcome at Melwood should he return to Liverpool after Gerrard announced that he would be leaving LA Galaxy at the end of the current MLS season.

When asked, Klopp said, “Steven Gerrard – and this will be a really big surprise – is always so welcome at Liverpool”

“Everything we will talk to each other about will stay in these talks. That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am.”

“Nobody should be worried that we don’t have space for Steven Gerrard. Everything will be fine, 100 per cent.”

While Gerrard has not announced his intention to end his playing career, it is thought that he will not ply his trade at another club. Paul Joyce of the Express reported on Sunday that Liverpool were in talks with Gerrard over a return to the club that could see him taking up some form of coaching role. Joyce goes on to state that the exact role Gerrard would take up is still being discussed with a role at the Liverpool Academy being the front runner. He has started his UEFA coaching badges and had done some coaching at academy level previously.

Fanning the flames, John W Henry and Linda Pizzuti Henry were present at Anfield for Liverpool’s victory over West Brom on Saturday leading many to believe that this is someway linked to Gerrard’s return.

While no official announcement has been made by the club, Klopp’s statements to the media during his press conference have gotten fans excited about the prospect of Stevie G returning with many suggesting that he would fit right into Klopp’s first team.

The 36 year old, who last played for Liverpool at the end of the 2014-15 season after making 710 appearances for the club is unlikely to take up any playing role and will most likely take up a position in the youth set up.

Steven Gerrard playing a part in any shape or form at Liverpool Football Club can only have a positive outcome as he is revered by both players and fans worldwide and has already achieved legendary status.
